Where ConfiDentist Can Help You Prepare
We don't teach the bridging program's academic coursework itself — that's delivered directly by the university you're accepted into. What we do support is the preparation stages before you get there:
AFK Exam Preparation
Most universities on this pathway require passing AFK first — our full AFK course prepares you for exactly this stage.
See AFK Course →University Interview Preparation
A dedicated prep course plus mock interview to help you perform well in your university admissions interview.
See Interview Prep →1-on-1 Consulting
Not sure whether the university route or direct NDEB equivalency is right for you? A consultation session can help you decide.
Book Consultation →Universities Offering This Pathway
Each of the following universities offers a degree-completion or advanced placement pathway for internationally trained dentists, though exact requirements, application dates, and document checklists differ by institution:
- University of Toronto
- McGill University
- University of Alberta
- University of Manitoba
- University of Saskatchewan
- Western University (Schulich)
- Dalhousie University
Always confirm current application requirements and deadlines directly with each university, as these change independently of NDEB requirements.

PLA/University Route vs. Direct NDEB Equivalency
Direct NDEB Equivalency: pass AFK, ACJ, and NDECC directly — generally faster and doesn’t require enrolling in a university program.
PLA / University Route: pass AFK (or ADAT for U of T/McGill), complete bench tests or an interview, then a 2–3 year bridging program before NDEB’s written exam and OSCE.
Not sure which is right for you? See our full NDEB Equivalency Process guide, or book a consultation to discuss your specific situation.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is PLA / the university bridging program pathway?
It’s an alternative route to dental licensure in Canada for internationally trained dentists, involving passing AFK (or ADAT for U of T/McGill), an interview or bench test, a 2-3 year bridging program at a Canadian dental school, and finally NDEB’s written exam and OSCE.
Does ConfiDentist offer a full PLA course?
We support the preparation stages of this pathway — AFK exam preparation and university interview preparation — rather than the bridging program’s academic coursework, which is delivered directly by the university you’re accepted into.
Which exam do I need for this pathway, AFK or ADAT?
Most universities require AFK. University of Toronto and McGill are exceptions — they’ve replaced AFK with the ADAT exam as the entry requirement for their programs.
Should I choose PLA or the Direct NDEB Equivalency pathway?
It depends on your circumstances — the Direct Equivalency route is generally faster and doesn’t require university enrollment, while the university route may suit candidates seeking a structured academic program. A consultation can help you decide based on your specific background and goals.
Why We Can Offer This Guarantee
Our NDECC program is built around rubric-calibrated instructor feedback, full simulator lab access, and realistic timed mock exams — the same elements outlined in our NDECC Clinical Skills course and NDECC Situational Judgement course. When students who complete the full program consistently pass, backing that with a guarantee is simply confidence in the process, not a risk.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the guarantee apply to all ConfiDentist courses?
No — this guarantee applies only to students enrolled in the full NDECC Comprehensive Bundle (Clinical Skills + Situational Judgement combined program).
What counts as proof that I didn’t pass?
You’ll need to submit your official NDEB exam results showing the outcome, within 30 days of receiving them.
What if I don’t meet the attendance requirement?
The guarantee requires at least 90% attendance of live sessions and completion of all assigned mock exams, homework, and lab practice. Candidates who don’t meet these requirements are not eligible for a refund under this guarantee.
How long does the refund take?
Approved refund claims are processed within 14 business days.
Can I get the guarantee on a retake attempt?
The guarantee applies to your first NDECC attempt taken while actively enrolled in the program. It does not extend to prior attempts made before enrolling with ConfiDentist.
